Let’s Talk Low Tech AAC Workshop Series:
Many personnel work directly with individuals but are unfamiliar with simple communication options that are available. Let’s Talk Low Tech is a program that will train professionals in the disabilities community who work with persons with complex communication needs, parents are welcome to attend. Training will focus on the benefits of low tech augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
Thinking Outside the AAC Box includes next steps, implementation strategies, ideas, tips and tricks and key terms. We will briefly introduce different communication layouts like PODD (Pragmatic Organization Dynamic Display) and LAMP (Language Access through Motor Planning) as well as other options. Core and fringe vocabulary, PECS and Aided Language Support will also be discussed. Hands-on activities and practice with different AAC systems will be included.
