Family Support Specialist – Los Angeles County

TASK is excited to announce that we are actively accepting applications for the position of Family Support Specialist in Los Angeles County.

The Family Support Specialist will provide a variety of parent-to-parent support services to help families of children with disabilities, ages birth to 26 years of age, and the professionals who serve them:

  • Provide information, training, and support to help families understand and navigate the special education system with their school district; to access disability related programs and related services; and connect with community-based services.
  • Provide individual telephone and virtual support and conduct individual IEP consultations.
  • Conduct special education workshops on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Family Support Specialist Requirements:

  • Applicant is passionate/driven to assist and guide families
  • Applicant enjoys working on a team and is a team player
  • Knowledge of special education, disability systems, and community organizations
  • Strong oral and written communication in English and a second language
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Salesforce
  • Proof of car insurance, reliable transportation, and a willingness to travel throughout Los Angeles County

Family Support Specialist – Orange County AND San Diego County

TASK is inviting applications of a qualified parent with a child with a disability to apply for Family Support Specialist positions to be based in Orange County and San Diego County under the supervision of TASK’s Project Manager, Region 2.

The Family Support Specialist will provide a variety of parent-to-parent support services to help families of children with disabilities, ages birth to 26 years of age, and the professionals who serve them:

  • Provide information, training, and support to help families understand and navigate the special education system with their school district; to access disability related programs and related services; and connect with community-based services.
  • Provide individual telephone support and conduct individual IEP consultations.
  • Conduct special education workshops relating to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Family Support Specialist Requirements:

  • Applicant is passionate/driven to assist and guide families
  • Applicant enjoys working on a team and is a team player
  • Knowledge of special education, disability systems, and community organizations
  • Strong oral and written communication in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Salesforce
  • Proof of car insurance, reliable transportation, and a willingness to travel throughout San Diego, Imperial, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties
