TASK invites applications for the position of Family Support Specialist, Region 1.

TASK is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and empowering people with disabilities and their families. 

TASK invites applications for a Family Support Specialist position, which will be based in Alhambra (Los Angeles County) under the general supervision of TASK’s Project Manager, Region 1. The Family Support Specialist will provide a variety of parent-to-parent support services to help families of children with disabilities, ages birth to 26 years of age, and the professionals who serve them.

Job duties will include:

  • Provide information, training, and support to help families understand and navigate the special education system with their school district; to access disability-related programs; and to connect with community-based services.
  • Provide individual telephone support and conduct Individual Education Plan (IEP) with parents online (via Zoom) and/or in-person.
  • Conduct special education workshops relating to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) online (via Zoom) and/or in-person.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong oral, written communication, and interpersonal skills in English/Spanish or other languages.
  • Access to reliable transportation, proof of car insurance, and a willingness to travel throughout Los Angeles County when in-person. 

Education:

  • College preferred.

TASK invites applications for the position of Bookkeeper.

TASK is a private 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to educating and empowering people with disabilities and their families. 

TASK invites applications for a Bookkeeper position, which will be based in Brea (Orange County). The Bookeeper perform a range of accounting and financial duties to support the financial functions of the company.

Job duties will include: 

  • Verifies and posts accounts receivable and accounts payable information; generates checks.
  • Assists with preparation of financial statements including but not limited to income statements, balance sheet, cash flow, and management reports.
  • Reconciles bank and investment-related statements.
  • Reconciles and closes books monthly.
  • Maintains budget spreadsheets for analysis of actual performance against budget.
  • Performs general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll duties.
  • Performs daily banking procedures.
  • Prepares 1099s.
  • Processes payroll.
  • Prepares required reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Working knowledge of data collection, data analysis, evaluation, and scientific method.
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, and percentages.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Acute attention to detail.
  • Proficient on QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.

Education:

  • College graduate or five years experience in accounting
