6:30pm – 8:00pm

The transition to adulthood can be complex and challenging for individuals with any disability. Planning can start as young as 12 and continue throughout adulthood. Connections California, the newest program from Parents Helping Parents – TASK’s fellow Parent Training and Information Center partner in San Jose – is designed to help YOU find the unique resources and critical information you need to create the smoothest transition to adulthood possible alongside your loved one!

In Connections California, you’ll find a comprehensive online hub of content, webinars you can attend, e-learning videos you can watch at your own pace, downloadable e-packets, and more!

Preparing to Work: What Students Need to Know

Executive functioning skills, such as the ability to plan, organize, demonstrate insight
and grasp the big picture influence how a young person transitions into the adult world;
yet, there is an epidemic of disorganized teens.

How do parents teach these executive skills to their teens when they may not want to
listen? Damon Korb, MD, Founder and Director of the Center for Developing Minds and
author of Raising an Organized Child, 5 Steps to Boost Independence, Ease
Frustration, and Promote Confidence, offers guidance on how to encourage them to
practice the skills that they will need to launch into their adult life.

Connections California, a project of Parents Helping Parents – Silicon Valley, is made possible thanks to generous support from Santa Clara Family Health Plan.
