TASK is inviting applications from qualified parents of a child with a disability to apply for Family Support Specialist positions based in Los Angeles County under the supervision of TASK’s Project Director, Region 1.

The Family Support Specialist will provide a variety of parent-to-parent support services to help families of children with disabilities, ages birth to 26, and the professionals who serve them:

• Provide information, training, and support to help families understand and navigate the special education system with their school district, access disability-related programs and services, and connect with community-based resources.
• Provide individual telephone support and conduct individual IEP consultations.
• Conduct special education workshops relating to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Family Support Specialist Requirements:

• Passionate and driven to assist and guide families
• Enjoys working on a team and is a team player
• Knowledge of special education, disability systems, and community organizations
• Strong oral and written communication in English and Spanish
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Salesforce
• Proof of car insurance, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout Los Angeles County
